I’m a big fan of sharing what I’m reading on this blog and on Instagram.

But what about what I’m not reading…at least not yet?

In today’s post, I’m spilling the names of a few series I haven’t read yet. Get ready to be surprised!

1) The Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros

Yes, it’s true: I haven’t yet read Fourth Wing or Iron Flame. GASP! I KNOWWWWW.

My reason for waiting (and yes, I’m waiting – I’m not swearing off the series entirely!) is because of a “rule” of sorts I have that I only read a series of books that’s complete. In other words, it’s SO VERY DIFFICULT for me to read a series that’s still unfolding and having to wait months and years between releases.

Now, before you call my bluff, YES, I’ve broken this rule with Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Blood and Ash series and her Flesh and Fire series, as well as Becka Mack’s Playing for Keeps series, Kandi Steiner’s Kings of the Ice series, and Meghan Quinn’s Vancouver Agitators series.

Can you see why I can’t handle yet another series of books that isn’t complete?!

2) Crescent City Series by Sarah J. Maas

I KNOWWWW. I’m a major fan of TOG and ACOTAR, and I’ve attempted Crescent City three times…but I can’t get past the first 125 pages of House of Earth and Blood.

I’ve heard it gets better. Like SO MUCH BETTER. (I’m trying hard to avoid spoilers. But Bookstagram is making it difficult…)

I’ll get there eventually, I promise!

3) Crowns of Nyaxia Series by Carissa Broadbent

I tried to read The Serpent and the Wings of Night, and I got bored.

BORED.

Am I crazy? Should I try again?

4) Any Series by Leigh Bardugo

There’s no real reason I haven’t read The Shadow and Bone Trilogy or Six Crows (or Ninth House…or any title by Leigh Bardugo) yet — I just haven’t made the time.

Trust me, I’ve heard good things — what do you think?

5) The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer

I feel like this is a rite of passage I absolutely missed as a teenager/early adult. Since I didn’t read it when it was popular, I haven’t made any attempts to read it as a grown adult. I haven’t seen the movies, either!

Is this series worth the read as a mom in her upper 30s? Convince me!
