As a lifelong storyteller, a student and a teacher of literature, an obsessive reader, and a copywriter by trade, I believe that words matter, and that reading for pleasure should be more than opening a plain brown box sent to your doorstep or swiping away that purchase confirmation on your Kindle.
To me, reading is an experience and an adventure – and while it’s a hobby that you technically do alone, it’s something that many people are passionate about and are just itching to engage in bookish conversation without someone judging them or thinking they’re crazy.
That’s what inspired What Sara Reads. I wanted to create a community of book lovers who had somewhere to go to talk about the spicy new romance novel that just hit the shelves. Or to give their two cents on a character that some people love and others despise. Or to shamelessly add to their evergrowing TBR pile.
I had always dreamed of opening a mobile bookstore that could travel around to different parts of my city and the surrounding towns for pop-up shops, so that I could be a source of bookish community.
But once I did that, I kept wanting MORE! How could this be even more than the mobile bookstore? How could I connect with other book lovers who aren’t necessarily local to me?
ENTER: A virtual book club!
Over the last few months, I’ve been soaking up all the bookish conversations that have been fostered in my shop, and I’m thrilled to share that next month, enrollment inside In Our Bookish Era, my exclusive virtual book club, will officially open! I’m SO excited to take these same types of bookish conversations into the virtual space.
Those people are my kinda people! 💛
As a romance and fantasy reader, you probably have LOTS of thoughts about the novels that you read – I know I do! And there’s no reason for you to have to keep those thoughts and conversations to yourself.
While you sure can flock to social media or Goodreads to share your insights, and you might find a few who know what you’re talking about and want to add to the conversation, you deserve a place where others are just as passionate about the topic as you are.
A place where people get you and your obsession with certain characters.
A place where people understand and respect your opinions on certain reads.
A place where people are just as excited to dissect book chapters as you are.
The place in question? A virtual book club, of course! But this is not just any virtual book club.
In Our Bookish Era isn’t your average Facebook group or TikTok community.
It’s a community of female book lovers who will find any excuse to engage in bookish conversation. They have a specific love for spicy romance novels, aren’t afraid to admit that they love to get lost in a fantasy world, and even indulge in a popular fiction title or thriller novel every once in a while.
⭐ ️ Accountability
As a reader, I’m willing to bet you have certain goals around how many books you want to read each month. But when life gets busy, it’s easy to put your hobby to the side and neglect the thing that brings you true joy.
Being part of a book club helps keep members motivated to read regularly and stay on track with their reading goals.
⭐ Exposure to New Books
When you keep your reading to yourself, you tend to stay in your zone of comfortability.
And while that’s totally okay, it’s SO FUN to find new genres and authors that you might not have picked up on your own.
⭐ Deepened Understanding
One thing I really love about die-hard readers (raising my hand here, too!) is that they always have their own unique insights and interpretations that can totally change the reading experience.
This is one of the coolest parts about book club and where the conversation comes into play! We each have the opportunity to share, question, and maybe even challenge what the books we’re reading are really trying to convey.
Opening for enrollment in November 2024, In Our Bookish Era is a virtual monthly book club membership for female romance and fantasy readers!
When you join, you get:
You get all of that for only $17/month, but you also have the option to upgrade to the Quarterly Book Box, which includes:
Overall, reading doesn’t have to be a solitary activity!
If you’ve been searching for a place to share your thoughts and insights and meet others who love reading as much as you do, then THIS is the place for you.
Enrollment is opening up next month (!!), but in the meantime, I’d love for you to stay connected!
